CUPOLAS
A cupola is a small structure that crowns a roof and is used as source for ventation, decoration or both. Pennypincher's cupolas are available in a variety of styles.  Cupolas add timeless character and style to any barn, barn home or cabin.

DORMERS
Gable Dormers are small gables with windows on the side of the roof. They add light, ventilation, a view, and a classic look.  The peaks of our dormers coordinate with our widow's peaks.

A Shed Dormer is a window whose eave line is parallel to the eave line of the main roof instead of being gabled; provides more attic space than a gabled dormer.

WIDOW'S PEAKS
The Widow's Peak is the pointed overhang on the front of the barn roof. Originally it provided a pulley support for putting in loose hay. Now it provides shelter for the loft door and adds charm.

STAIRWAYS
Pennypincher's manufactures and provides stairways for our building kits.  We offer straight, ell shaped and U shaped (45 degree turns). Our Standard Stair, much like regular house stairs commonly installed by most builders, is made with notched 2"x12" lumber. Hand rails not included so that you can chose the kind that suit your needs.  Smaller buildings may come with a pre-manufactured pull down stair.

WOOD BARN WINDOWS

Pennypincher's manufactures old style wood barn windows.  These windows are for use in unheated buildings such as garages and barns.  They have the old fashioned small pane look.  The high index plexiglass pane can be removed for ease of painting.  The plexiglass can, additionally, be used as a glass pattern if you wish to convert to real glass.  (Remember to follow tempered glass rules about proximity to doors and stairs when converting to glass). Accessory framing materials needed to frame for windows can be included in our packages.

Pennypincher's also offers rustic shutters for any size window.  Shutters can be used for both security and decoration.  The average cost of the shutter is approximately 70% if the window cost.  Although no barn or home is safe from a determined burgular, our sliding barn doors may be used to secure your glass patio door and glass loft doors.  Everyone idea of the best locks vary.  For that reason Pennypincher's does not provide door locks.

VINYL WINDOWS
Many of Pennypincher's packages are intended for present and future heated use space.  For these packages Pennypincher's will help design your package to fit the window sizes you choose. Because of the variation in colors, insulation values, wind strength, and the cost of storing & shipping glass, Pennypincher's does not include or ship vinyl windows.  We will, however, provide your supplier with the window dimensions we use to achieve the "classic barn look".
